We hosted the JIE-GCAP-GSB Conference on Geoeconomics and the RFS-GCAP-GSB Conference on the Geoeconomics of Financial Markets.

Jesse Schreger gave a keynote at the Hopkins-Georgetown Geoeconomics Conference, led a session on Geoeconomics at the Politics and Economics of International Finance Conference, and gave a lecture series on international currency competition at the American Economic Association.

Matteo Maggiori gave a master class on geoeconomics at the ABFER 13th Annual Conference, spoke on tariffs and geoeconomics at the Latam Economic Forum at the Bank of Spain, and co-organized a conference on The Future of the GeoEconomic Environment at The Hoover Institution.

Christopher Clayton taught a summer school on geoeconomics at the University of Oxford.

Antonio Coppola received the 2026 Michael J. Brennan Best Paper Award for his paper “In Safe Hands: The Financial and Real Impact of Investor Composition over the Credit Cycle”.

Christopher Clayton and Antonio Coppola received the AFA Future of Finance Award for their paper “Financial Regulation and AI: A Faustian Bargain?”.

We bid farewell to our predoctoral fellows Chiara Bargellesi, Angelo Cataldo, and Yicheng Yang, who are heading off to PhD programs at in Economics at MIT, Finance at UCLA, and Economics at Columbia. We wish them the best, and we are excited to have predoc Gabriel Gonzalez join the team.

Congratulations to PhD student Oliver Xie on his placement as an Assistant Professor of Finance at MIT Sloan and to postdoctoral fellow Clemens Graf von Luckner on joining the Economist Program at the IMF!
