  • Stanford's Graduate School of Business invites applications for a Data Scientist position at the Global Capital Allocation Project (GCAP) Lab, based at Stanford University in Stanford, CA. GCAP is a dynamic team dedicated to addressing significant policy and societal questions within the domains of international macroeconomics and finance. The Data Scientist will play a pivotal role in assembling, analyzing, and managing extensive datasets, developing analytical insights, and building automation tools. Responsibilities include overseeing the lab's internal code and databases, generating public-facing estimates, supporting replication efforts, and contributing to policy-related analyses. Additionally, this role involves the development of Big Data systems and data-intensive solutions, data architecture design, and maintaining data quality management systems. To excel in this position, you should possess advanced knowledge of database systems, programming languages, analytical tools, and statistical techniques. Prior experience in high-performance computing, deep learning, and economics or finance is beneficial but not mandatory. Exceptional project management, communication, and teamwork skills are essential.

  • We are seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Global Capital Allocation Project (GCAP) Lab, under the guidance of Professor Matteo Maggiori at Stanford Graduate School of Business. This one-year position, with a strong preference for a two-year commitment, is set to commence in the summer or fall of 2024. The role centers on empirical research in international macroeconomics and finance, delving into topics such as the financial strategies of global firms, financial integration in the Eurozone, China's evolving role in global markets, and geoeconomics. The research have direct policy implications and may garner significant media attention. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, your responsibilities will include academic research and close collaboration with various members of the lab, including co-directors and co-authors, and collaboration with the Lab policy partners. A strong academic background is essential, with a PhD in Economics or Finance, with a primary focus on international macroeconomics and finance.   • We are seeking two pre-doctoral research fellows to join the Global Capital Allocation Project Lab at Stanford Graduate School of Business, under the supervision of Professor Matteo Maggiori. As a research fellow, you'll delve into big-data applications in international macroeconomics and finance, with projects covering diverse topics like global firm financing, Eurozone capital allocation, China's presence in global markets, and the interplay between geopolitics and economics. The results of your work will have policy implications and may garner media attention. You'll collaborate with a dynamic team, including faculty members, PhD students, and fellow researchers, presenting your findings and gaining valuable research training. In addition, you will have the opportunity to take classes at Stanford, often amounting to a year of PhD-level coursework in economics.
